At the 2017 Annual China National Science & Technology Awards ceremony on January 8, researchers from the Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute for Translation Research in Shanghai were recognized with two National Science & Technology Progress Awards.
The “Basic and Clinical Innovation Methods for Cerebral Fluid Through Surgery” project led by Institute Director Professor Mao Ying, who is also the Vice President of Huashan Hospital and Executive Deputy Director of the Department of Neurosurgery, received an award for advancing the progress of science and technology in China. The project’s main participants included Professor Zhou Liangfu, Vice Chairman of the Institute’s Board of Directors and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as Professors Zhu Wei and Chen Liang, two of the Institute’s inaugural researchers.

The China National Science & Technology Progress Award is one of five leading science and technology awards established by China’s State Council, in recognition of individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions in researching, developing, promoting and applying science and technology.
