On 13 March, the School of Life Sciences and Technology at ShanghaiTech University, the Institute of Brain Health at Shanghai Mental Health Center and the Department of Anesthesiology at Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital jointly published a research paper entitled “Propofol exerts anti-anhedonia effects via inhibiting dopamine transporter” in the journal, Neuron. The paper explores the neural mechanism of euphoria produced by propofol and uncovers its new role in treating depression. Professor Tifei Yuan, a TCCI investigator and the Executive Director of the Institute of Brain Health of Shanghai Mental Health Center, was the lead author of the paper.
