Shanghai, China. October 12, 2022: In the fourth installment of “BrainTalk,” an ongoing forum for academic exchanges related to the brain and mind, Dr Ying Mao, President of Fudan-affiliated Huashan Hospital and Director of the Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute for Translational Research, moderated a vibrant discussion between Dr. Li Jin, President of Fudan University and Fudan’s Shanghai Medical School and Dr. Sam Hawgood, Chancellor of University of California, San Francisco and Arthur and Tori Rembe Rock Distinguished Professor, about how these leading universities manage to stay at the forefront of brain science.
BrainTalk attracts tens of thousands of online and offline participants who can ask questions to the guest speakers. The quarterly meeting is co-sponsored by the Chinese Neuroscience Society and the Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute (TCCI). “We started the BrainTalk series to encourage a scientific spirit of exploration among scientists and academicians and to engage the public,” explained Chen Tianqiao, a founder of TCCI.
Dr. Li Jin explained that Fudan University has set up institutes for brain science, artificial intelligence, and brain transformation and during the talk, he outlined a number of accomplishments in each area.
Similarly, Chancellor Hawgood, walked through recent and emerging breakthroughs at UCSF in neuromodulation, brain machine interfaces, neuro-immunology and neuro-developmental disorders.
